Item Dimensions : 15 ½" High x 11" Wide x 3" Deep
No exaggeration, even the Howard Miller Company itself had no historical catalogs early enough to show this Model. Company Historian K. DeJ***** was contacted 1/11/23 and asked for info on this unit and his reply in part, was "... I checked all our old catalogs from the 50's, 60's and 70's and could not find anything on this model number."
Extensive searches online produced ONE single other example of this barometer rarity, in a Florida sale House two years ago (see photos). A second unit, with a clock instead of a barometer in the same oval leather case was located at sale in 2017 (see photos). Were it not for these identical unit's discovery, I would reason this was a well crafted, but homemade item. This is not a singular handmade oddity, it is one of two remaining examples of Production Model #4741, produced by the Howard Miller Clock Company, pre-1950. Encased in an oval leather-clad case decorated with gilded laurel leaf and lyre design, it is a true rarity and a showpiece for any collector of vintage Howard Miller Clocks and Barometers. See photos for condition. I challenge any and all to find another example of this model barometer, anywhere. The unit has signs of wear from age but is in good condition. Functionality of the barometer is unknown but the mechanism is intact.Please research or investigate beforehand for yourself, as all sales on this item are final.
