THIS LISTING IS FOR A VERY NICE RARE PIECE OF UNITED STATES MILITARY HISTORY. A NATHEN P. AMES - SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS - NAVY ANCHOR STAMPED BLACK POWDER FLASK IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. THE BOTTOM HAS BEEN REPAIRED.
IT IS STAMPED "N. P. AMES" THE YEAR "1843" AND A "B" THAT WAS PROBABLY THE INSPECTOR FOR THIS FLASK.
AMES WAS UNDER MILITARY CONTRACT FROM 1837 TO 1846.
