VERY RARE 1897 Nathan Bedford Forrest Cavalry Corps UCV Badge Civil War:

This is a Forrest Cavalry Corps badge manufactured by the Schwabb Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. These badges were presented to members of the National Organization of Forrest veterans and their descendants. The badge was designed somewhere around 1897. The badge is of a three piece construction and is approximately 3 3/4" tall and 1 3/4" wide. The top piece is gold gilt and has a likeness of Robert E Lee flanked by a Third National Confederate flag on the left and a Confederate battle flag on the right. Under the likeness of Lee is the word MEMBERS. The enamel paint on the flags is flawless. The gold gilt is untarnished around the perimeter of the badge. The center section of the badge reads FORREST/CAVALRY CORPS. The blue enamel paint is in amazing condition. The bottom section of the badge has a medallion with the likeness of Nathan Bedford Forrest. Stamped in an oval above his likeness is GENERAL N.B. FORREST. The medallion is near flawless and the gold gilt wreath around the medallion shows very little wear, and is not tarnished. The reverse of the badge has a pin attached to the top section. The maker mark of SCHWABB S&S in an oval over CO. and MILWAUKEE, located at the top on the back side of the wreath surrounding the medallion. The back of the medallion has an image of the Third National Confederate flag. If you collect UCV items this is one you can't be without! These are getting harder, and harder to find in this kind of condition.
