reads in part: things haven\'t gone to good with me ... I haven\'t been myself since the accident ... I didn\'t register for school until 10 days of the semester had passed ... in that time I had gotten a job down in the Laredo oil fields, near the Mexican border ... it would have paid $35 a week and all expenses and I was all set to go but mother wrote and told me to stay on and get my degree ... life down here has been very dull ... my mother won\'t ever know in what shape I was really in ... glad I\'m alive and not crippled .... etc.
