The traffic patch is the first NYPD patch ever. It made its debut at the policeman’s parade in 1905. The horse head and wagon wheel has been on the arm of manhattan traffic area officers for 100 years. Someone decided it needed an upgrade. This patch was universally rejected by the rank and file as well as the upper Ranks. I purchased this at the equipment section because the guy said he had a new patch. Never worn by a NYPD officer. It was dead before it started. It is a genuine NYPD issue patch. But everyone hated it. And it disappeared as fast as it arrived. Circa 1993. Will include a current traffic patch that’s still worn today since 1905
