Original grouping of dress caps, documents and photo albums identified to Major General Richard S. ABBEY.
Abbey served from WWII until his retirement in early 1971 and retired with the rank of Major General.
This grouping includes:
- A 1960s blue wool dress cap with general officer darts and clouds on the visor. This cap was manufactured by Luxemberg and is identified with the last name \'ABBEY\' on the visor. Size 7.
- A 1960s white cotton dress cap with general officer darts and clouds on the visor. This cap was manufactured by Bancroft. Size 7.
- Two (2) photo albums. One includes mostly B&W photographs of Gen. Abbey, some with family with period aircrafts, some wearing the very same caps including in this grouping. The second album with the Air Defense Weapons Center cover includes color photographs of a reception for NORAD commanders at Tyndall AFB. Albums are a size 10in x 11in and most photos are 8 x 10.
- Various publications, letters, pamphlets, including 2 copies of July 1971 Gemini newsletter covering Gen. Abbey\'s retirement.
Additional photographs are available upon request.
Good overall condition. Light wear on the caps, minor stains on the white cover.
1960s general officers dress cap are tough to find! This is a rare opportunity to acquire an identified set of 2 caps with additional documentation to a WWII-Vietnam veteran with a very interesting career.
