ORIGINAL US issue 10th Mountain Division Early Emergency Ski Repair tip. Marked US and made by the Dartmouth Ski Co. This hinged metal tip would clamp around and then be screwed into the broken front of a ski. These are extremely rare. I have seen NONE for sale on in the last 15 plus years. It would later be replaced by a much cheaper wooden type very late in the war. Picture from catalog is of later type ( not included)
