UNUSUAL Blue Zircon • Ruby • Chrome Diopside Sterling w/ Gold Wash DRAGON RING:
$480.00

Here we have a most unusual and pretty elaborately detailed cocktail ring that will definitely turn heads!
Cast in 925 Sterling Silver and topped with a Gold Wash accented Dragon's Head encrusted with eighty four 1mm faceted Chrome Diopside gems in a pavé setting, red blazing eyes of 2mm round facet-cut Ruby, a 6.25mm round facet-cut crown of Cambodian Blue Zircon, and a 4.8mm round Portuguese-cut Cambodian Blue Zircon clasped in it's teeth to create a dazzling and unique ring.
As the ring's silver has remained as bright and shiny as when originally purchased during several years of storage, I'm fairly certain that the ring also has the Rhodium surfacing that helps to keep 925 silver jewelry free of tarnishing. At purchase, the ring had also beenevaluated by a GIA Graduate Gemologist, and all gemstones in the settingverified as genuine.
The ring size is US 7.75, with a comfortable lower shank width of 4mm. Highest point above the finger is just under 14mm, and a total length (nose to nape of the dragon's head) of 28.8mm. All setting stones are present and in tact, with no chips, scratches or signs of wear, with the body of the ring also free of damage or wear beyond having been lightly handled when brought out for display a few times. Approximate total carat weight of the gemstones is roughly 2 carats. Total weight of the ring, including mounted gems, is 9.84 grams. For those who may be unfamiliar with them, the two larger primary stones, the Cambodian Blue Zircon were a superb choice as the primary and most exposed gemstones on this mounting, as Zircon (not to be confused with man-made Zirconia or Cubic Zirconia) are a natural gem with a Mohs scale hardness exceeded only by diamond, as well as a refractive index that is often actually higher than diamond, giving them both excellentbrilliance and high durability. Blue Zircon's coloration will commonly range from a beautiful shade of green-blue frequently referenced as a "Caribbean Ocean Blue", to a lighter, more purely hued "Sky Blue". The Zircons of this ring are well-matched in color and saturation, and to my eye I would categorize their coloring as being very very close to an absolute 'sky blue', with only a very slight hint of green-blue leaning if influenced by other nearby colors.
The small intense green pavé stones are Chrome Diopside, most commonly mined in Russia. Known for their high refraction, clarity and strong green coloration, Chrome Diopside has long been a steady favorite gem for use in jewelry as an alternative / stand-in for emerald due both it's lower cost and far better natural levels of clarity and lack of fracture. The dragon's red eyes are faceted Ruby, and based only on my limited knowledge of these members of the corundum family, by their strong pink undertone I would guess their origin as lower Asia, possibly Viet Nam which is known to produce this shade of Ruby in quantity.Feel free to ask any questions; I'll be happy to help as best I can.
