UNIQUE/RARE WORLD\'S COLUMBIAN PROOF OF TICKET BOOK COVER ON VERY THIN PAPER:
$279.00

This item is one of those so easy to overlook if you do not know much about WCE tickets. It looks pretty ordinary and some people might think it is just a blank cover from a ticket book that was torn off. But it is so much more. It clearly is a proof or test printing. It\'s ridiculously thin paper indicates it may have been printed on a small \"proofing\" press that was hand fed or simply placed flat like a modern copier and then inked with a roller or a plate.
I haven\'t a clue how such a proof would survive for 130 years and it has no glue on the blank back. I seriously doubt there is another out there. I\'ve seen proofs of tickets on lightweight paperand also on a coated heavier paper stock.
Among a small number of proofs I\'ve found in 40+ years, one was a jet black copy of the original plate from which the Ferris Wheel ticket was printed. I sold it maybe 20 years ago for $1,800; it too is one-of-a-kind and should fetch much more than this ticket book cover proof. But that $1,800 sale was before prices began to soar for both commonand rare tickets. I would think that if the owner chose to sell the unique piece it would easil bring twice what he paid to acquire it.
So how to price this unparalleled proof that is a real rarity, likely the only one in existence but that lacks the cache of a Ferris Wheel ticket. Still, it is one of the truly most exciting ticket discoveries I\'ve made. And believe me, I spend a lot of time hunting for them.
I have to compare it to the several one-of-a-kind tickets I\'ve sold--several from $2,000-$3,600--and a few rather nondescript pieces that while proofs, commanded only $300-$400.
ABOUT THE FORTHCOMING WCE TICKET BOOKAs you may know, I have specialized in Columbiana for 40+ years as both a historian and author, and as a seller. I\'ve specialized in tickets (Heritage sold my Columbian ticket collection for $40,000 in 2008) and I\'m work now on my 3rd WCE book, which is a catalog of ALL WCE tickets. It will be full color and published in late 2024. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE ADVANCE INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT ME.
