ULTRA! Cypraea humphreysii kwajaleinensis #1 15.3mm, Gray 1825, RARELY OFFERED BEAUTY from Kwaj

. Found in 3 feet of water under rubble, Kwajalein Island, the Marshall Islands, 1966. So, this is another of those fantastic shells from Kwajalein and Hawaii that are rarely offered for sale on ---a live collected cypraea humphreysii from Kwaj! And again, I doubt that I will ever have another one to sell, so it really helps that this shell is simply awesome, wow!

I used to find almost all-white beached humphreysii at Kwaj, along with cypraea cribraria gaspardi, mariae, clandestina, martini, and others, but being a new collector, I had no idea that I was looking at a fortune sitting there waiting for someone to pick up, nor did it occur to me until quite recently, that the only way the high tide line of that little beach could've been stuffed with all of those small cowries was because in the shallow waters right off of that beach was...? That's right, right there---5-10 feet from shore---was what could only have been called a shell collecting gold mine!!!

As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that's why so many of the photos of shells on show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest!
