Columbia, a screw steamer was captured on 3 August 1862 bySantiago de Cubawhile running the blockade off the coast ofFlorida; purchased by the Navy from theKey West, FloridaPrize Courton 4 November 1862; outfitted atNew York Navy Yard; and commissioned sometime in Pitty Couthouyin command. While serving with theNorth Atlantic Blockading SquadronoffWilmington, North Carolina,Columbiaran aground and was wrecked offMasonboro Inleton 14 January 1863.
