U.K RPPC- RMS OLYMPIC OCT. 1910 PRE LAUNCH "STERN IN THE SLIP" WHITE STAR LINE:

Rare, I think, RPPC of the RMS OLYMPIC in the slip likely just prior to its launch on October 13, 1910.

The card is by SIGNAL Postcards and, although it does not appear to have been posted, there is a long note verso written in fountain pen.

The lengthy note is dated Oct. 31  1910 and references the fact that it is Halloween.

The note was written in Belfast as indicated by the writer at the top of the note.

This would jibe with the fact that the Olympic was constructed in 1910 at the Irish Shipyards - Harland and Wolff- in Belfast.

The name of the ship is clearly visible as is the City of registration Liverpool.

It would appear that some further painting of the hull was still to be done?

Although  other later RPPC's of the Olympic show a black hull, other 1910 cards (Bow in the Slip and Launch) show the same white hull?

I have priced this,  I think, fairly given the subject matter contemporaneous with the launch, its presumed collectibility, the RPPC status,  the Belfast note, other similar card sales and the excellent condition.

I note that the "Bow in the Slip" sold for $399 US ($520 CAN) in 2023.
