Stories and art by Lily Renee, Gladys Parker, Rudolph Dirks, Charlie Plumb, Raeburn Van Buren and Eric Peters. A collection of 16 coverless St. John comics, rebound in hardcover and containing a variety of kid-friendly stories. This book has substantial wear and the some pages are loose or missing (see photos). The last story, "GORDO" has at least a partial page missing and may have more, see the last picture. Both covers are still attached and there are some pages loose, particularly in the "Mopsy" section which were printed to be used at cutouts.
After surviving a train wreck and a tiger attack, Abbott and Costello join a traveling circus. They try to help the beautiful ringmaster save her circus from sabotage by minions of the Big Boss, in a story with art by pioneering female comics artist Lily Renee. When Bathless Groggins comes into a small fortune, the fortune-hunters come out of the woodwork. Mopsy's new "super-grow" gardening seeds have a strange effect on a passing rooster. This is one of the nicer copies of this bound volume that I have seen. No tape on the fronts and back covers. Lots of wear, but pages are fairly supple. I would call them "cream" if this were a comic. Just a GREAT TREASURE. The Gerber scarcity index had this compilation as a "9" which meant only 6-10 copies exist, but that was a long time ago and who knows how many there are.
