These 2 people were show performers in Barnum Bailey circus mid 1800s Both were midget dwarfs..It is thought the baby in the photo was a baby belonging to someone else although for publicity. they had photos taken with it. there is a note from a young girl who writes about meeting the couple on stage when she was 6 yrs old and she describes them and their hack with 2 ponies.she mentions their baby died but they saw it. i have included the note dated 1870. there is also a 1936 readers digest history of the famous couple .. the girls name was Belle Robinson who met the couple and baby. Apparently Circus life was not easy for them. interesting read.
if you ever wonder who Tom Thumb was you will enjoy this ephemera..it came with a box of photos and album belonging to an Irene Dudley from Suncook N.H. born 1915.... the photos and note and article were tied up together with string.. sweet little remembrance
