Three Antique Soda Water Siphons from Paris Bistro:

This is a set of 1940s three beautiful old soda bottles made of heavy pressed glass. The two transparent glass bottles are both etched. One bottle etching reads- soda water Dayla Sodawater Lowestoft, Gomersall's ltd. The other etched bottle reads Tingley's Nr Wakefield Magpie Minerals. Both clear glass bottles have tops made of white plastic with a red handle and screw cap. The heavy blue glass bottle has a metal top with a white plastic handle and the bottom reads "la GAZOASA". They all come from an old Parisian bistro, but were probably not made in France. The siphon soda or seltzer bottle is a device for dispensing carbonated or soda water. As early as 1790 the concept of an Aerosol" was introduced in France with self-pressurized carbonated beverages. The modern syphon was created in 1829 when two Frenchmen patented a hollow corkscrew which could be inserted into a soda bottle and, by use of a valve, allowed a portion of the contents to be dispensed while maintaining the pressure on the inside of the bottle and preventing the remaining soda from going flat.
