A superb and rare photo, made from what webelieve is the original glass-plate negative, of the 1912 Thor motorcycle.

Thor motorcycles were manufactured by the Aurora Machineand Tool Company of Aurora, Illinois. In 1902 Aurora closed acontract with the Hendee Manufacturing Company of Springfield(Massachusetts),the company that started Indian motorcycles. From that moment on Aurorastarted making engines for Indian. Meanwhile, they decided to start buildingmotorcycles themselves too, under the Thorname. Shown is the 1909 single, equipped with magneto ignition. The engine isvery similar to that of the Indian single, manufactured in the same company. Thor stopped making motorcycles in 1916. Today, theyare amongst the most sought after motorcycles, but also amongst the rarest.
