Youare purchasing a 1979 Vantage Press hardback in dust jacket of TheSpider-Men by Ralph Annan with illustrations by Ken Landgraf. The book is in near mint condition and dustjacket is in near mint condition in a Mylar protector. The 56-page book is approximately 5½ by 8¼ inches. This story was written in the Edgar Rice Burroughs tradition and was reprinted inEdgar Rice Burroughs News Dateline #26, 27, 28 and 29 (1987-88). MajorJohn Steelford, the uncle of the narrator of The Spider-men by Ralph Annan, isa man whose constant companion is tragedy. In 1952, when the war was raging in Korea,Steelford, a West Point graduate, is sent home on emergency leave to his ailingwife. A few hours after his arrival, shedies. About a year later, Steelford iswounded in battle, an injury that ends his military career, for he losescomplete use of his body from the waist down. Years later, strange events begin to inhibitJohn Steelford\'s life. He disappears,and only his clothing and wheelchair are discovered. Then a ledger is received in the mail by hisnephew, and a baffling, adventure-packed chain of events is recorded within itspages. Steelford has entered the macabre world of the spider-men, and he maynever survive the dangers therein. Ralph Annan, in The Spider-men, has writtena story that is fantasy, that is chilling and intellectually stimulating. He suggests that other dimensions exist, and,that nature, not man, has the power and the means to bridge the gap betweenthem.
