This bell is approximately 6 1/4 inches tall and the diameter is approximately 3 3/4 inches. It is white and light blue with gold decoration. The writing on the top reads, John Donne ~ Born A.D. 1572 ~ \" THEY WERE TO GOOD ENDS, AND THEY ARE SO STILL\" . The images around the bell are ~ THE CAPITOL - WASHINGTON, A.D. 1792-1865 ~ ST. BASIL\'S - MOSCOW, A.D. 1560 ~ THE PARTHENON - ATHENS, 447-432 B.C. ~ ST. PAUL\'S - LONDON, A.D. 1675-1711 ~ THE TAJ MAHAL - AGRA, A.D. 1650. I do not know the significance of the dates, possibly the years of construction?
The inside has gold writing, also. It reads, The Hammersley Annual Bell ~ 1972 ~ Hammersley Fine Bone China ~ Made in England. The bell is in very good condition, no chips or cracks and little wear. I do not have the box for this.
