Up for sale today is this Sam Houston Ship Channel Bridge sign, from Beltway 8 in Houston, Texas. Made to the exact 1982 standard from the beginning days of the bridge, when it opened on May 6. The bridge, a cantilevered concrete trapezoidal haunched hollow box girder bridge, provides a 175-foot tall safe channel for ships to pass under the busy traffic of the beltway, which circles the city of Houston. At the time it was completed, it held the record for being the longest box girder span in the Western Hemisphere, an honor it held until 1997. Take home the elegant design of the marker for this historic bridge, reproduced in exquisite detail on high-quality, heavy steel today!
