Stunning, very tall French Delftware Ginger Jar made at Faienceries d'Art de Malicorne, founded in 1924. The first earthenware factory was founded this area in 1747 due to the abundance of clay, and wood to supply the kilns. Blue Chinoiserie design on tin-glazed pure white body. Charming birds, flowers and branches topped by a substantial lid decorated with a bird and eggs.Just under 18 inches in total height. Approx. 8.5 inches across.Lovely vintage condition with one small area (approx. 1/2 inch x 1/8 inches) of the base unglazed. See photos for this; they are part of the description.Found in Damariscotta, Maine. I am estimating the vintage as 1980s, but it could be earlier or later.If shipping costs are lower, difference will be refunded to buyer.
