Vintage Menu. tiki, scarce Palmer House item, copyright 1964. a later 1970\'s menu sold on for $60 so???i am listing a bunch of tiki, restaurant menus and related items in other sales this weekend ie trader vics, don the beachcomber, beyond the reef, reef, top of the isle, kon tiki, etc. some scarcer tikki items included
.Trader Vic\'s is a restaurant and tiki bar chain, Victor Jules Bergeron, Jr. founded the chain., a competitor for many years of, Donn Beach of the \"Don the Beachcomber\" restaurants.
Vic founded Hinky Dink\'s as it evolved, the menu and decor developed a tropical flair, and Hinky Dink\'s soon became Trader Vic\'s.
Because Bergeron lacked the capital to expand, he partnered with Hilton Hotels. Conrad Hilton opened his first Trader Vic\'s in The Beverly Hilton in 1955. Two years later, Hilton opened another Trader Vic\'s in The Palmer House in Chicago, and made a mint off the idea. Sheraton Hotels quickly opened competing chains of tiki restaurants in their hotels, known as Ports O\' Call and Kon-Tiki.
During the Tiki fad of the 1950s and 1960s, Trader Vics became one of the first successful themed chains, it developed a marketing model that many other theme restaurants followed.
note, the 4 slot cuts on back are factory made to insert the daily special card, which is inserted and included. the insert card is often lost, so this is especially interesting.
