Legendary 3rd President of the United States THOMAS JEFFERSON authentic undated autograph cut signature, in vintage Charles Hamilton custom framed display. Many of Jefferson's autographs have faded over time, this example is among the boldest we have seen. An excellent example of the same signature which can be seen on the Declaration of Independence.
Hamilton (1913-1996), an internationally recognized handwriting expert, was widely considered theDean of autograph collecting and authentication, and was the author of a number of famous books on this topic. One of the most well-respected figuresin thehistory of the autograph industry, Hamilton for many years had a popular store in New York City.

Condition is as shown, with some fading to the velvet mat, consistent with age and display. The signature was previously mounted, is in fine condition with a bisecting single fold, and some light staining, as shown. Vintage frame measuresappx. 8" x 16" with appropriate wear and nicks, as shown. Paper backing has degraded with time, as shown. Jefferson signature measures 2.5"x.75".
