Born in Paris and educated in Dresden Adolph de Meyer was the son of a Jewish father and Scottish mother. He moved to London, joined the RPS and as a result of an advantageous marriage moved in high society circles. Famously he was described by Cecil Beaton as the \"Debussy of Photography\".
