Stunning Antique Blue Dragon Huge Gone With Wind Oil Lamp C1860.This is not an easy piece to let go. This huge beauty stands 34.5 inches tall and is in great condition with only slight nibbles on globe where it sits on the burner which is common for these old antique lamps, also the little ring that holds the globe has a crack in the metal but does not affect the stability of the lamp at all just mentioning for accuracy. Also the base has what appears to be a hole from being electrified many years ago and where the switch would have poked through. The inside of the top shade is signed as pictured. The base is more of a gold dore ormaloo heavy metal rather than your typical cast iron or pot metal tin base. The lamp definitely shows some age and some gilding on the dragons is worn slightly as expected. The base dragon is etched in the glass and then painted giveing it depth. Tthe shade is all hand painted and not engraved I believe this is so the light reflects better and is more even. The top metal ring on the shade is missing but can be easily replaced it was there to keep the chimney from chiping the shade. This lamp appears to be all original and I do not see any holes in the font the wick is there you may want to put a new one in there if you plan on using it but it is there just a little floppy which makes it a little tougher than a rigid wick to raise and lower. for me this is one of the best oil lamps on right now.
