This saleis for the StarletO’Hara In Hollywood #3 (Standard; Jun 1949) pictured above. This “ditzy dame” issue includes 10-page and11-page Starlet O’Hara stories, plus a 7-page Moronica story. This copy has a CGC Qualified Grade of Very Good (4.0 VG)and supple off-white to white pages. Itcarries CGC Serial No. 4433586004. Ipurchased this book raw and just had it certified/encapsulated. The case is in excellent “as-manufactured”condition with no scratches or cracks.The encapsulated book you see above is the book you’ll receive.

This copyreceived a Qualified Grade because paper is missing from the unbound verticalmargin of interior leaves 4 and 5 (also known as interior pages 7 thru 10). It’s not clear whether or not this was amanufacturing defect or something done by a previous owner. In any event, 99% of the missing material isunprinted margin paper. Only 1% of themissing material includes story panel art and/or dialogue (which does notaffect the readability of the story involved, and which is why CGC did not classifythis book as INCOMPLETE in their Grader Notes).Images 5 thru 12 above show each affected page of this “for sale” copy,followed by the exact same page from another “unblemished” copy. This should allow you to decide whether themissing margin paper is significant (from a standpoint ofcompleteness/readability) or not.

Based on CGC-certified copies of other booksmissing margin paper, I was actually expecting this Starlet O’Hara #3 to beawarded a Universal (Blue Label) Grade of 3.5 or 4.0. Scans of nine of these “comparables” (whichhave Universal Grades that range from CGC 3.0 to CGC 6.5) are included as images13-21 above. Please note that none of these nine comparablesis included in the current sale; their images are included for comparisonpurposes only.
