This is the real deal. This sign was purchased and hung in the estate of Ivan Lendl. I have the privilege of listing so many of his amazing items. So many have history. For those who follow me I am selling thousands of items from the Lendl estate. This was purchased from an antique shop. It’s old and with old age comes flaws. When something is over a hundred years old and made out of wood it tends to dry and chip. As you can see from the pictures I took there are some chips around the edges as well as some loose chips in the center of the piece. This is not a reproduction. I assume this is from the St. Andrews golf course used today for the PGA and LPGA. I have had the pleasure of playing on it once. The new clubhouse looks nothing like the image in the sign. I can only assume that is what it looked like before the new one was built. There is a slight chance this could be St. Andrews in Scotland, but I do not think that is the case. I figure the sign was made in the early 1900’s based on the outfit of the man playing. The course opened in 1888 according to their website. I also have images and pictures with Ivan Lendl playing this course. For those who are not aware he is an amazing golf player as well as the former number one tennis player on the planet.
The sign is heavy and large. The shipping will be rather expensive, but a small price to pay to own something thing like this. This is available for local pick up in Bethel, CT. I have so many other great items. This is one of many. We are still just starting. I have the absolute best clients. As a mover in a wealthy community I am lucky enough to work with some truly famous but more importantly kind celebrities. I am in the process of moving the Lendl family. Samantha and Ivan have put their trust in me, not only to relocate them, but also to help them downsize. I am so grateful. This is one of thousands of items I am going to be listing that belonged to them. Not only are you getting a high quality item, but you are getting something once owned by the former number one tennis player in the world. I have some fantastic items of theirs.
