This7/8\" medal is brand new with a beautifully detailed traditional image of this wonderful saint who has been helping women with breast problems for centuries. It has \"Pray for us\" on the reverse.Made of nickel silver from Italy,the medalcomes securely attached with an oval ring to a 24\" stainless steel continuous chain. Thismeans itiseasy to slip this medal on and off over your head. Fits over most heads.

The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medalsand pictures are home-made, created using a \"greeting card\" programon a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although theyare not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of ourcustomers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 \"pages\"and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about thesaint or Catholic devotion.

St Agatha was an early Christian martyr who has been mentioned in the canon of the Mass; not much is known about her but her story seems to run pretty much like this:A very pretty girl, wealthy and of good family, she was dedicated to a chaste life, but desiredby aRoman official who threatened to denounce her as a Christian to theauthorities if she did not have sex with him. Sherefused, andin his anger he ordered Agatha to be horribly tortured and then killed. She was healed of some of her tortures by St Peter,and when she was being killed an earthquake erupted which killed some of her persecutors; the restfled in fear. She is said to bethe protector of Sicily, Malta and otherMediterranean locations; and to have prevented the eruption of Mt Etna by prayers for her intercession.

St Agatha is the patron saint of nurses, people who have breast cancer or other breast diseases andalso women who breastfeed;these are because of her terrible tortures. She is also the patron saint of protection from fire, earthquakes, volcaniceruptions, and natural disasters; of jewelers, fire prevention, wet nurses, rape victims, torture victims, single women and couples desiring to have children.
