Tolearn more about us please click on our profil Superior quality portrait of a Napoleonic officer of General Staff of Grand Armeé in rank of a captain (adjoint capitaine d\'Etat-major general de l\'armeé francais). He bears the Chevalier Cross of Legion d\'Honneur of so-called 4th model (1808-1814).
It is a very rare (for the current antique market) original work of well-known French female artist, one of the best pupils of Augustin, Sophie-Clémence Delacazette. Our images nr.11-15 offer her extensive biography (clips from Schidlof and Lemoine-Bouchard) and show several other works of her. Miniature portraits by this artist can be seen at the Louvre, in museums of Lyon, Montreal, the National Museum of Sweden, etc.
Sophie-Clémence Delacazette was a pupil of Regnault and Augustin. She exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1806 to 1838, and obtained a 2nd class medal in 1819 and 1834; she also ran a workshop where she taught miniature painting, mainly to society ladies; as already mentioned, she was considered one of Augustin\'s best pupils.
