Russian Lacquer Sports Cup or Award. Cup of the 1950. Painted by hand. Artist P. Zinoviev. ~Zinoviev Parmen Nikolaevich~ Born in 1919 in the village of Dyagilevo, Vyaznikovsky district, Ivanovo-Voznesensk province. Hereditary painter, son of N.M. Zinoviev. In 1934-1939 he studied at the Palekh Art School. Teacher - I.V.Markichev. Participant of the Great Patriotic War. Since 1961 he worked in the Palekh art and production workshops. Subjects of works: folklore, history, literature, genre scenes. Participant of exhibitions since 1974. P.N. Zinoviev’s works are stored in museums: GMPI, MNI, GMNR... Size: 8.2 inches (21cm). Traces of restoration. ~Palekh~ Palekh has been famous for its icon painters since pre-Petrine times (along with Mstera and Kholui). Palekh icon painting reached its peak in the 18th and early 19th centuries. The local style was formed under the influence of the Moscow, Novgorod, Stroganov and Yaroslavl schools. In addition to icon painting, the Paleshians were engaged in monumental painting, participating in the painting and restoration of churches and cathedrals. After the revolution of 1917, Palekh artists were forced to look for new forms of realizing their creative potential. In 1918, the artists created the Palekh Art Decorative Artel, which was engaged in painting on wood. The founders of the Palekh style are Ivan Golikov and Alexander Glazunov. Ivan Golikov wrote the first work in the so-called Palekh style. In 1925, Palekh miniatures were exhibited at the World Exhibition in Paris. The Union of Palekh Artists arose in 1932.
