Challenge Coin

This is anice quality Shellback coin in the shape of a sea shell, which measures 1 3/4 inches high, by 2 inches wide.It made of brass. You get the coin without any engraving. The engrave pictures just shows how the person\'s name/rank, date, coordinates (lat/long), and ship can be engraved for the person who earns the right to be a \"Trusty Shellback\". of Shellback from Wikipedia:

The ceremony of crossing the line is an initiation rite in the Royal Navy, U.S. Navy, and other navies which commemorates a sailor\'s first crossing of the equator. Originally the tradition was created as a test for seasoned sailors to ensure their new shipmates were capable of handling long rough times at sea. Sailors who have already crossed the equator are nicknamed (Trusty) Shellbacks, often referred to as Sons of Neptune; those who have not are nicknamed (Slimy) Pollywogs.

\"King Neptune and his court\" (usually including his first assistant Davy Jones and her Highness Amphitrite and often various dignitaries, who are all represented by the highest ranking seamen) officiate at the ceremony, during which the Pollywogs undergo a number of increasingly disgusting ordeals (wearing clothing inside out and backwards; crawling on hands and knees on nonskid-coated decks; being swatted; being locked in stocks and pillories and pelted with mushy fruit; crawling through chutes and large tubs of rotting garbage; kissing the Royal Baby\'s belly coated with axle grease, hair chopping, etc), largely for the entertainment of the coin is made for the \"Slimy Pollywog\" who earns the label of \"Trusty Shellback\" through Royal Order of King Neptune\'s Ancient Order of the Deep’s crossing the equator initiation .

A super nice addition to any challenge coin collection and a \"must have\" for a Shellback to have on hand at any watering holeand port across the world. Don\'t be the Shellback who\'s buying the other sailors\' a drink.

On the front of the coin it says, \"Royal Order of King Neptune.\" Below these words is a nice graphic of King Neptune being pulled through the sea. On the left side is ahelmsman\'s wheel with Amphitrite (Sea Goddess; consort of Poseidon, and a symbolic representation of the sea)written below it. In the middle, on the bottom is an image of a pollywog with the word Shellback below it. On the bottom right side an anchor with the name Davy Jones. On the bottom of the shellback coin is place to engrave the name of the Shellback.

On the backside of the coin you have the words,” Ancient Order of the Deep.\" Below these words is a nice graphic of the world and deep seas the sailor knows and respects as their home while sailing them. The world map is marked with a small emerald greenmarkto commemorate the Emerald Shellback (latitude 0 degrees, and longitude 0 degrees - Prime Meridian), and is marked with a smallgoldenspot commemorate the Golden Shellback (latitude 0 degrees, and 180 degrees longitude - International Date Line). Below the map are the words \"Equator Crossing,\" with a compass in between the two words. On theleft side of the world map is a blank shell made for engraving the date crossed the equator, and on the right side of the map is a blank shell to engravethe latitude/longitude of where the crossing was made. At the bottom of the Shellback coin is a blank to engrave the name of the vessel.
