Shark Teeth Lot Of 10 Mako and White Shark (Hastalis) Megalodon Era Fossil Tooth For Sale

These Pliocene (5.4-2.4 MYA) shark teeth were found in Antwerp, Belgium.
Size: .5-2+ inchesThere are three different species found in this lot:

The Shortfin mako (Isurus desori): These teeth are often thinner than the other species and the blade will usually slightly twist near the root.
The Longfin mako (Isurus retroflexus): These can be the trickiest to identify because some can look similar to both other species in this lot. To identify a I. retroflexus vs a I. desori, the best method in my opinion is to first compare its width to other confirmed I. desori specimens and then to check the blade near the root to if it twist. If it does twist, then it is most likely a I. desori specimen. To identify a I. retroflexus tooth versus a C. hastalis tooth, I recommend to first look at the back side of the tooth and see if the blade near the root extends the full length of the root. If the blade extends to each end of the root, it is most likely a C. hastalis specimen. Another way to tell, is to lay your shark tooth on a flat surface, if the tooth is very tall, it is more likely to be a I. retroflexus.
The Lesser white (Carcharodon hastalis): C. hastalis teeth are often very broad. These teeth will often have a much wider blade from the lingual (front) view than the other two species.
