Each plate dedicated to one of most fascinating castles of Loire river - Châteaux de la Loire - in France. Each faience plate is hand-painted in white and blue colours, showingAmboise, Azay le Rideau, Blois and Chambord.

All plates are signed on their back. Made inFrance in famous old Glen workshop which is dating back to 1820s and is known now among collectors for their beautiful faience and ceramic. These plates I believe are dating back to late years of 20th century.

The Châteaux de la Loire area in France offers over 400 fascinating castle complexes. On these plates you can see 4 of the most well-known castles which are depicted on Gien’ s \"Châteaux de la Loire\" series.

Faience is a fine, porous earthenware which is tin-glazed and then fired repeatedly. The sophisticated refinement of the resulting faience is what distinguishes it from other kinds of ceramic. Numerous work steps are necessary to produce a Gien piece.
