Very rare and colossal Dutch State-Bible in magnificent binding, so called \'Sophia-Bible\' named after Queen Sophia. In amazing Binding with various religious scenes and floral details in reliëf - Printed in Gouda in 1855 - richly illustrated - 37 x 28 x 12 cm - weight : 10 kilo.
Very scarce piece of religious art. The reliëfs on the boards and spine are made of paper-mache and then covered with leather ...Unparalleled !!!
Condition : In beautiful condition! Richly illustrated. Beautifully preserved gold on the edges all around.Complete, compact, solid.This famous edition is regularly plagued by foxing and browning, especially on the lithographs, in this case the rice paper with which the numerous lithographs are protected has done its job well.
