Scarce & ORIGINAL antique SIOUX FALLS S. D. hobble skirt Coca Cola COKE bottle:
$24.99

5971-5972

A 7 3/4\" tall - 6 ounce size antique crown-top hobble skirt shaped Coca Cola COKE bottle from SIOUX FALLS SOUTH DAKOTA.This is a scarce ORIGINAL OLD Coca Cola bottle, a D-105529 patent bottle, NOT a newer or reproduced bottle. These originals are hard to find, and can be identified by the LARGE, BOLD, base embossing and are made with very HEAVY, THICK glass. These old originals date from the early 1900\'s.

  • Bottle embossed: \"Coca Cola / TRADE MARK REGISTERED / MIN. CONTENTS 6 FL. OZS. - Coca Cola / TRADE MARK REGISTERED / BOTTLE PAT. D-105529\". Then it is embossed a little ways below this, in very small letters/numbers, \"79@ 42\".

  • Base embossed: Note that the base is embossed in LARGE BOLD letters, \"LEAD / S DAK.\", which is the earmark and tell-tale sign of the originals.

  • Condition: Bottle is in clean condition. It has wear, mainly around the mid-section and base, and includes some flakes off of the base. Otherwise good, NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc.

  • Age: An ABM crown top bottle, ca. early-mid 1900\'s.

  • Shipping: All DOMESTIC shipping charges INCLUDE insurance. We have enjoyed shipping our items all over the world and are happy to offer most of our items to international buyers. Yet insuring International parcels is very expensive so PLEASE NOTE; we do NOT insure International orders unless winning buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance quote. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and send payment acknowledgments and shipping confirmations. Your prompt payment will assure a very quick turn-around time. IMPORTANT NOTE: If our shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is especially important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are rough estimates.

There are 1000\'s of these that you see in all of the antique shops, estate sales, on , etc. but they all have something in common, they are new and/or reproductions of the old original bottle like the one that we have listed for sale here. Yet as advanced Coke bottle collectors know, there is an easy way to tell them apart from the old original ones, like the one for sale here. They all have small(er) printing on the base, are very light in weight, and they are just too perfect looking. And they are everywhere. It is hard to find the original ones from smaller towns like this one is. The town and state that is embossed on the base of these bottles is one thing that makes them so collectible. Collectors try to get one from every state, every town, small out of the way towns, hometowns, and so on.

Did Coca Cola originally have COCAINE in it??? This is a common question that is presented to me quite often, and here is my best attempt to answer this question from what I could piece together: John Pemberton, an Atlanta Georgia pharmacist was the inventor of Coca-Cola. As a chemist in the 1880\'s, he developed a product that he registered as French Wine Coca--Ideal Nerve and Tonic Stimulant. Though this tonic was developed strictly as a patent medicine, in 1886 he added another ingredient and turned it into a soft-drink. Pemberton named his new soft-drink \"Coca-Cola\". An ad placed in the 1880\'s, by John Pemberton, stated that the original Coca Cola syrup / extract was added to soda water and the drink was said to be, and I quote, \"An intellectual beverage and temperance drink that contains the valuable tonic and nerve stimulant properties of the Coca plant and Cola nuts, and makes not only a delicious, exhilarating, refreshing and invigorating beverage (dispensed from the soda water fountain or in other carbonated beverages) but also a valuable Brain Tonic, and cure all for nervous affections-sick head-ache, neuralgia, hysteria, melancholy ... J. S. Pemberton Chemist, Sole Proprietor, Atlanta Ga.\" Kind of sounds like it did to me but you be the judge! Again, the earmark of the original hobble skirt D-105529 PATENT BOTTLEs is the very large lettered base embossing, just like this one has, check it out!
