◆What is the lacquer art technique “Ishime-nuri”?Ishime-nuri is a lacquer painting technique in which the surface of the lacquer is uneven, resembling the skin of a stone. The fine grained stones are made by sprinkling charcoal powder or dry lacquer powder on top of lacquer, then applying lacquer on top and polishing it. Furthermore, since lacquer hardens by absorbing moisture from the air, it takes several days to several weeks to dry, so it takes several months to complete a lacquer work. For this product, the ebonite body of the fountain pen is coated with lacquer for preliminary treatment, then an undercoat of lacquer is applied on top of that, then dry lacquer powder made in the same color as the colored lacquer is sprinkled, and a finishing coat of lacquer is applied. After that, it is a masterpiece that has been polished with many coats of colored lacquer.
◆Coloring is available in four elegant colors.[Usukou] An elegant color that originated from dyeing with fragrant wood and was loved during the Heian period.[Suou] A traditional color that is also described in the ``Engishiki\'\'* and is a noble color that was loved by the Heian nobility.[Fukaai] A color that gives a sense of dignity and was favored by samurai families as ``Katsuiro\'\'[Chitose Midori] A color that has auspicious meanings such as \"eternal unchanging\" and \"eternal youth and longevity\"The package is a paulownia wood box that is said to be ideal for storing lacquer products, and the tying string is made of Sanada cord, which is durable and does not stretch easily.*Engishiki is a formal system compiled in the middle of the Heian period. One of the Sandai Kaku style.
