Sahara00182 (C3-ungrouped) is a single stone find weighing 70 grams. This 2.56 gram ultrarare metal-rich carbonaceous chondrite was first thought to be the onlyprimordial CR3 chondrite recovered.However, subsequent analysis and isotope testing have shown that Sahara00182 has to be considered to be an ungrouped carbonaceous chondrite with someaffinities to both the CR and CV groups.This meteorite is likely paired with Sahara 00177, the only approvedmeteorite classified as C3/4-ung. It mayalso be related to Hammadah al Harma 073, the only approved meteoriteclassified as C4-ung. Much uncertaintystill remains, but Sahara 00182 is unquestionably an exceeding rare meteoriterepresenting a new source of relatively pristine solar system material.
