SUPER 1/6 PLATE AMBROTYPE - A STRONG & BOLD GENTLEMAN - IN VERY NICE FULL CASE - He had a great swagger about him, especially the way he was seated on a caned seat chair. A truly dashing portrait with strong, bold contrast. Please notice the preserver surrounding the mat is considered to be very rare, with flag, eagle and shield motifs pressed into the design. His portrait also resides in a rarer seen case with an incredible geometric design on the exterior. You cannot go wrong offerding on this quality portrait of a handsome fellow. Please remember my listing photos are taken with my iPhone and there is no retouching whatsoever to my listing images. The sixth plate ambrotype contains incredible contrast, tonal range and spot on sharpness. The gentleman\'s face also received a bit of warm tone tinting. The case has an older cloth repaired hinge, a golden colored pillow and the single working latch. The image of this man who had some definite experience and character in his face would make an outstanding addition to your collection of 19th Century cased hard plates.
