Postcard - a MECHANICAL POSTCARD. My Merry Christmas WIsh. At the left side shows a winter scene with holly leaves and berries above. At the right side is a tab that fits inside a slit in the postcard. At the right is a bird sitting on top of a bell and states My Christmas Wish. Below from & the name Rita is written. The tap area opens up and a die cut Santa Claus pops up holding holly leaves & berries. To his left is a poem: To Whisper my name to You, O Friend, And wish you a Christmas Jolly, From Far away I send today This little sprig of Holly. Virginia B. Harrison. When the tap area is closed the Santa figure folds down inside the postcard. Because of how constructed, when in the closed position, the upper right corner appears as an angle. On the back side Ernest Nister, London, No.162, Printed in Bavaria, E. P. Dutton & Co., New York. Postmarked from Madison Sq. Sta., N.Y. on December 24, 1906 and addressed to Richmond, VA. Generally, very good condition overall, but has a small TEAR on Santa, where it folds. This could easily be repaired with a little glue by the next owner. I have included photos of both sides including when in the open position and when Santa is folded down to show the small tear.
