Made in heavy white metal andmeasures 28.1 mm in width. This high-quality replica has the correct agedappearance with convincing looking "wear" and patina. Of course, themedal differs from the original in many small details: most notably it’s notmade of solid silver and does not have the medalist’s initials to the undercutof the emperor’s shoulder. It also appears to be die-cast rather thandie-struck. However, it may pass for an original to an unsuspecting beginnercollector. In fact, this medal had been sold as an original and came from avery old collection, so it is now at least 30 years old! This just goes to showthat age or patina alone do not guarantee in any way that the medal is real!
