Here is a larger specimen(with sawed base, to improve the display angle..), consisting of many light pink Rhodochrosite crystals, growing in a vug. Although the piece has some edge wear, it\'s still a highly interesting specimen, from a rarely referenced old locality near Butte, MT, the Burlington mine( exploited in later 1900\'s, mostly first decade of the 20th Century) . This locality was exploited mainly for manganese and Silver, and therefore also yielded Rhodochrosite, a Manganese bearing Carbonate. The miners, not recognizing the value of Rhodochrosite, discarded most of these specimens on mine tailings. Luckily, clay in the pockets and veins with the Rhodochrosite xtls, shielded a substantial percentage of these crystals from damage. This specimen is 618 grams in weight, or 1 lb and 5 3/5 oz in weight. The size is 5.5 inch x 2.4 inch x 1.4 inch. Please be advised, i ship with Ground Advantage.
