Manuscript Document verifying a soldier\'s military service and a printed and written receipt of an order to pay him/her, both dated 1780-84. Sometimes to the widow or relative or guardian. The American Revolutionary War (April 19, 1775 \" September 3, 1783), also known as the Revolutionary War or the American War of Independence, was initiated by delegates from thirteen American colonies of British America in Congress against Great Britain. The war was fought over the issue of U.S. independence from the British Empire. Engagements took place in North America, the Caribbean Sea, and in the seas surrounding England: the North Sea, the Irish Sea, and the English Channel.
