This is another print magazine article from a damaged or low grade condition magazine, this one being a 1994 CARS & PARTS issue from Amos Press, Inc. This article\'s subject car is one that many who enjoy or own a classic car will know, the car being the 1969 Chevrolet Corvette with a 427 Cubic inch engine. This article was written by Bob Stevens for the regular monthly column \"REDLINE\" that appeared in each monthly issue of CARS & PARTS at the time, the article was titled \" 69 Corvette 427 Corrals 400 Stampeding Horses\". It was about the \"Mako Shark II\" Corvette idea car that would end up being the 69 Vette in the article and the one that was the first of the New Generation Corvettes that were ushered in during the 1969 season. It was a true sales success, the public loved the cars sexy styling,the heavy duty performance credentials and its space age cockpit. The best was the fact it was still in a class all by itself and the best bargain one could find in the sports car world at about $5,000. This car could go from 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds, do the standing 1/4 mile in 14.1 seconds at 102 mph. It could go from 80 mph to 0 mph stopping distance took 229 feet. Fuel mileage was around 10-15 miles per gallon.
