Red Poppy Glazed Lustreware 1950s Hand Painted Cream & Sugar Set Short Japan
This very pretty cream and sugar set is Mid Century dated and from Japan. It is preowned and in good and acceptable condition. They are hand painted and are nicely glazed. There are no large scale chips or cracks. There is no crazing apparent. Conditional issues are some fleabites, the pouring rim of the creamer has a scrape / rub off of the gold gilding, the lid of the sugar bowl has a little manufacturing bump. There are signs of light discolorations in some areas, not quite sure if original or after the fact. Otherwise, truly a nice set that is perfect for any collector or lover of tea and the poppy flower. The colors are still bright and true and the gloss is quite shiny. The sugar bowl measures approximately 3\" tall with the lid on x 5 & 1/2\" wide with the handles included. The depth is about 1 & 1/2\" of room for the sugar. The creamer is approximately 2\" tall x 4.5\" wide. The depth is about 1 & 1/4\" for the cream or milk. These items are not perfect and they do have some minor manufactured flaws and/or flea bites in some areas.
