This is a rare one! It is from 1914 and is an image of a young pioneer aviator and his wife. He sits proudly behind the controls of his early aircraft here. He holds the wooden steering wheel as shown. The postcard has lots of printing and reads Loop The Loop Aviator, Mr. & Mrs. Art Smith. The First Couple In The World To Elope In An Aeroplane. The card back is hand documented in pencil years ago and readsHillsdale Michigan, Art Smith c1893-1926 became a pilot in 1910. Notable for sky writing at night using flares. He married Amie (should be Aimee) Cour Of Fort Wayne Indiana in 1913. He was the first pilot to loop the loop at night. He died in Feb 1926 when his mail plane crashed at Bryant Ohio.
Card back is divided and not postmarked. Condition is good to very good as shown. Guaranteed vintage and original. The watermark is not on the postcard you are buying here.
