Large ammonite on a black cord necklace

Ammonites is 20 mm , laid on a bed of sand and surrounded in clear resin

The pendant measures 48 mm length ( not inc cord necklace )

All the Ammonites in my jewellery are real gold pyrite Ammonites of varied species and were found on the Jurassic Coast in Charmouth .

They are all 195 million years old and were found and handmade into jewellery by myself .

Once an Ammonite gets washed out of the clay and has contact with the air they very slowly begin to decay and eventually crumble over many many years . By encapsulating the Ammonites in resin , this preserves and immortalises them .

If I found two or three Ammonites together I put them into one piece of jewellery to keep them together as found .

Some of the Ammonites are laid on sand as they were found and surrounded in resin while others are just surrounded in resin.

The sand is also from the Jurassic Coast in Charmouth .

The photo’s I have done do not show them off very well because my phone isn’t very good and I also tend to shake when trying to stay still lol but I have done my best.

The photos have not been edited in any way because I don’t agree with that so what you see is what you get ……or if photo isn’t any good , then it will be better .

The ones that are on pendant trays have lovely detailing on the back of the tray .

If you have a pyrite Ammonite that you wish to preserve , you can do this by brushing it with varnish . This also stops air getting to them .

Millions of years ago Ammonites swam about in our oceans which were then tropical. They were around when dinosaurs roamed the earth or swam in our waters . Although rare , you can find ichthyosaur vertebrates and many other fossils on this beach .

I have been fossil hunting for 16 + years .
