Rare vintage Gerber Folding Hunter knife Mint:

This Gerber Folding Hunter was designed by Francis \"Ham\" Gerber. The handle was inspired by Thomas Lam\'s 1945 handle patent. This one is stamped \"HS\" for high-speed steel, which was the premium steel for this model. The handle is Deirin plastic which was unusual for its day and only available on very early models.I have only been able to find one other Deirin handled knife sold in the last few years. Most had walnut handles. this model was introduced in 1968. I bought this one at the PX on Fort Richardson, near Anchorage , Alaska, in September, 1969. It has been collecting dust in my garage every since. I inherited some very nice hunt knives shortly thereafter and never really used this one.The knife has been very lightly used. It is in excellent used condition. There are several of the walnut handled models for sale on for $450 - $500. The four I looked at were all stainless, not High-Speed steel. That and the Deirin handle make this a rare one!
There are some fine scratches on one side of the blade which could be easily buffed out. It comes in the original Gerber leather sheath with a Gerber 5\" sharpening steel. Most of the information presented here comes from Levine\'s Guide to Knives and their value.
