New Zealand White and Pink Terraces 8th Wonder of the World lost in 1886 eruption.Estate find of a rare positive slide, magic lantern format circa 1880.What is in the view is a picture of what appears to be Maori native guides or family at a bathing pool basins at the base of the of the Wairoa Valley pre-eruption at the White and Pink Terraces, near the Otukapuarangi Coromandel Pennisula where Sophia Hinerangi had the base camp hotel and Parsonage buildings at Te Wairoa. The building can be seen in the background. This is pre eruption, as the buildings seen in the background were covered with ash after the destructive volcano and eventually collapsed. We see in the foreground what appears to be a man a woman and child in the pool with the village of Te Wairoa in the background. My photos of this slide is really not good. I couldn\'tget a light box, so I put it on a window to back light it.It appears as if a man is relaxing on the terrace, and either a woman or full chested man baths, and a child in native garb sits along the terrace.The slide is in focus even though my photos are not, and they would reproduce beautifully with appropriate equipment.No copyright is attached, and buyer has ownership of both the slide and implied reproduction and resale rights.
We have done our due diligenceof this slide and others from the same estate as well as White Terrace photos. This slide is in original condition, not colored or hand tinted. There are no actualcolor photographs of this location that exists. Any color version of this area pre volcano would be hand colored later.
