Rare Vintage Nambeware Cast Promo Plaque Richard K. Thomas Nambe New Mexico Rare cast metal vintage Nambe ware promotional plaque, measures approximately 13 x 7 inches.Sign reads “Authentic Handcrafted/Nambéware/Cook In It ~ Serve In It/Original Designs by Richard K. Thomas”. Best known for its tableware and founded in the village of Nambé, New Mexico, a small town northwest of Santa Fe, Nambé’s award-winning designs date back to the early 1950\'s when the brand’s signature eight-metal alloy was developed. Since then, Nambé designs have received numerous accolades and have been displayed in or added to the permanent collections of 23 international museums. Its timeless beauty, artistic integrity, and uncompromising quality remains unchanged. Nambe\'s earliest and most beloved designs were the creation of the New Mexico sculptor Richard K. Thomas.He created the iconic Butterfly Bowl, which was unveiled shortly after the birth of the company in the early 1950s. Thomas’s designs are both timeless and modern, even though many of his designs were created in the 1950s. By 1956, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City had selected two pieces of Nambe ware to be a part of a design exhibit of Progressive American design. Today Nambe is often described as mid-century modern, intended for use with early Danish Modern, for those who appreciate the designs of Charles & Rae Eames, vintage 1960s chic, for use in Santa Fe or Southwestern design, and the list continues.
