Rare Vintage Kenmore Sewing Machine Model 83 E-6354 Collectable 117.831 Rotary.
The Kenmore Model 83 Sewing machine was only manufactured for one year, 1938. It\'s is a rare find.
This particular machine was owned by a single family and lovingly used until the mid 1980s, when it was purchased at its owner\'s estate sale by an antique dealer. He decided to keep it rather than sell it. He kept it for the next 35 years, but did not use it and it has gathered some dust and grime. It does power on and the cord to the machine is in good working order. The pedal works and the machine responds to it. The light also works. There is a fray in the cord from the motor to the light, it doesn\'t affect performance but probably should be covered or fixed.
I don\'t know enough about the workings of these machines to determine what kind of condition this one is in.
Its last owner (Antique store owner) described it as functional but in need of a tune up. That seems to be a pretty accurate assessment to me. However, there may very well be problems that I don\'t see or can\'t recognize.

It is loud and squeaky. I don\'t know what it is supposed to sound like but I think this is probably not it. The needle moves up and down without any issues and all of the levers and knobs that I have found move correctly and appear to work correctly. It has no additional parts with it other than what is pictured. The machine itself, the wooden box, the original foot pedal, original power cord and light.
