U.S. Model 1873 Trapdoor Bayonet with scabbard and Frog. Bayonet measures 21\" overall with a blade length of 18\". Bayonet in excellent condition with only light minimal wear, minor scratches. \"U.S.\" stamped on ricasso area of the blade. Comes with collar ring and screw. Scabbard shows a brown age patina, no dents on it. The frog is a Hoffman 1870 Long Loop Belt Attachment. The so called, \"Hoffman device\" includes two brass washers, one each on the obverse of the collar tab and the other on the inner reverse of the belt loop. These are held in place by three small rivets, their is also a stop pin that limits the rotation of the belt attachment. Back of leather is stamped with initials \"W.C.\" other initials on the leather neck shows what looks like \"A.R.S.\" obverse side leather is stamped, \"WATERVLIET\" in larger font. Some of the leather shows cracking and some loss on the edges. A very nice example. See photos.
